Election Monitor continues to
provide stakeholders of the Nigerian electoral process with high quality data
and information germane to understanding and following the 2015 General
Elections.
This edition has a primary focus on incidents of pre-election
violence and protests that have occurred across the country in the months
leading to the 2015 Nigerian General Elections. Protests have been included
here because, they signify discontent amongst the electorate for diverse
reasons. This is critical because protests are an early warning sign for
possible violence and it is important to track as many election related
protests as possible. Election Monitor has made assiduous attempts at
identifying the incidents of violence and protests that have occurred across
the country but certainly not all of such incidents have been covered here. As
much as possible the pictures of the incidents have been included as obtained
from the various information sources, however it should be noted that some
pictures may be a bit horrid so reader discretion should be observed. This
edition also showcases the final Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection rate for
each state before the commencement of the 2015 General Elections. Finally, we
take a look into the distribution of registration areas/wards and polling units
across Senatorial Districts in all the 36 States and the Federal Capital
Territory.
